E.11 Functional novelty without anatomy
SF16 modifies homeostatic coordination without creating a new gross anatomical structure. Lesson: HGL
includes physiology.
E.12 Anatomical novelty without stereotypical amplification
SF18 creates a novel internal interface between two tissues rather than exaggerating familiar sex-associated
features. Lesson: hidden dimension is not stereotype scaling.
E.13 Repair phenotype
A high-stage inherited source improves repair of an existing tissue. Lesson: later stages can change
reliability/maintenance rather than size.
E.14 Timing phenotype
The endpoint anatomy is unchanged, but the developmental timing of maturation differs. Lesson: phenotype
can include temporal physiology.
E.15 Suppressive interaction
A new inherited non-SM source suppresses an optional earlier pathway. Lesson: productivity can work by
structured exclusion.
E.16 Enabling interaction
The same kind of source enables an earlier latent pathway that could not activate at lower order. Lesson:
high-order input can recontextualize old structure.
E.17 Three-way synergy
A trait appears only when inherited SF4, inherited non-SM6, and adult maturity coexist. Lesson: nonlinear
causal map.
E.18 Convergent phenotype
SF8 and SF12 arrive at similar visible anatomy through different internal pathways. Lesson: phenotype does
not uniquely reveal stage.
E.19 Divergent phenotype
Two SF12 subjects differ because of environmental history. Lesson: stage need not uniquely determine
phenotype.
E.20 Provenance-insensitive world
Imagine a world where ignores IH source and reads only Boolean projection. High-stage phenotypes
Φ
largely collapse. Lesson: shows exactly which causal assumption makes IH biologically substantive.
E.21 Provenance-sensitive world
Imagine instead a world where stage-specific regulatory marks encode each IH transition. Higher stages now
generate genuinely different causal inputs. Lesson: intended HGL reading.
