40. “Obvious in hindsight” as retrospective causal intelligibility The phrase “that’s obvious—why didn’t we see this as a possibility sooner?” can be made precise. Before observing an emergent trait , an observer has an incomplete model of female biological 𝐸𝑛 𝐾0 possibilities. The observer therefore assigns very low expectation. 𝐸𝑛 After learning the higher-order causal structure , the observer updates to and can derive or strongly 𝐶𝑛 𝐾1 explain 𝐶𝑛→𝐸𝑛. The surprise disappears after the hidden relation becomes visible. That is retrospective causal intelligibility. The trait was not necessarily already present in ordinary Female biology. What was latent was the generative possibility of the trait under a richer female-compatible configuration. 41. Hidden does not mean pre-existing It is useful to distinguish two claims: 1. “Trait was physically present all along but concealed.” 𝑇 2. “The system already contained a route by which could become generated under additional 𝑇 structure.” HGL needs only the second claim. A high Archwomanhood stage can create a property that ordinary Female never actively instantiated, provided the property is generated from the expanded female-compatible developmental architecture. This is emergence rather than mere uncovering. Part XI — Aliza: month-by-month Archwomanhood under inheritance logic The following fictional case is deliberately explicit. It demonstrates what the logic does determine, what it does not determine, and what kinds of phenotype claims are causally possible without pretending that they are logically forced. Let Aliza be female-typed. For the first twelve months of the example she rises one Archwomanhood stage per month. This monthly rate is an illustrative schedule, not a universal law. Month 0 — ordinary womanhood before Archwomanhood Aliza is female-typed and may possess the ordinary Female developmental mode 𝐹= 𝑃𝐴𝑥 ( ). Her complete phenotype is not determined by this formula. She can still vary in every ordinary way permitted by the fictional biology. Strong logical statement: she is female-typed. Not licensed: a specific height, body shape, voice, reproductive performance, hormone level, visible femininity, personality, intelligence, or attractiveness. Lay interpretation: ordinary womanhood already has its own large developmental space. Archwomanhood is not needed for Aliza to mature as a woman.
