A task can demand very high h while the relevant positive lobe activates normally, in which case no failure MRD is needed. If a demanded target is silent and A1 responds, the positive activation failure is detected with MRD=1. If MRD is high, the additional depth says the anti-monitoring chain itself suffered repeated lower-layer failures before a later sentinel succeeded.
